The position of System Administrator is an important role with unlimited growth potential located in our Houston office and supporting all of North America. He or she should have extensive experience with report writing software such as Business Warehouse, Business Objects, etc as well as several years experience supporting an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) program such as SAP.

The Job:
Under the direction of the Information Systems and Technology Manager, the System Administrator ensures the successful execution of business processes by supporting systems users for all ERP systems. Incumbent resolves systems issues when reported or when observed to ensure that downtime and business disruption are minimized and uptime and performance maximized. He or She also supports IT department by scheduling, communicating and overseeing system upgrades, various system applications, user hardware, and resolving network needs under the direction or request from management or users. Additional responsibilities in each functional area are outlined below.
The System Administrator - SAP will support multiple locations and users. He or she will office primarily within the Houston Corporate location, and will be required to travel to the Freeport, TX location as well as various locations in Mexico and / or Canada approximately twenty (20) percent of the time for both initial training and ongoing business needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following items. Other duties may be assigned as needed to meet business and customer needs.
- Acts as primary liaison and support for SAP system and users by:
- Providing daily and monthly user support for all areas of the business
- Making suggestions to improve daily and weekly processes including freight, assessments, and reporting
- Writing and modifying requested reports for monthly business processes, such as end of month closing activities, within Report Writer, Business Warehouse, and Business Objects
- Demonstrating and sharing knowledge with others in the use of Business Objects and Business Warehouse
- Working on special projects as assigned, for example FAR, PICAS
- Supporting EDI daily regarding conversion rules and other processes
- Supports the American Rice, Inc Network for Freeport, Houston, Canada and remote sales team members by:
- Learning and sharing knowledge to respond to inquiries regarding Netscreen Firewall, IPRISM Web Filter, and Cisco Switches
- Assisting Network Administrator to resolve issues with the network, blackberry support, exchange email servers, printers, fiber optics, and PC Software upgrades
- Acting in the place of the Network Administrator as point of contact when he or she is out of the office or otherwise unavailable
- Provides general hardware and software expertise to all users of equipment to include video equipment and users accessing the system remotely from a home based or traveling location
- Supports other Divisions within North America with SAP training, implementation, projects, and user questions as requested including the locations in Mexico (Cordoba, Mexico City, Monterrey, Guadalajara, and Merida)
- Performs various other duties as requested
Qualifications/requirements:
- Demonstrated effective use and support of ERP software applications and following detailed company processes
- Ability to effectively plan and organize daily work to ensure that priority tasks are completed in a timely manner
- Ability to effectively multitask and complete multiple assignments within deadline driven time constraints
- Possess strong customer service orientation with the ability to build and maintain constructive working relationships internally and externally
- Demonstrated attention to detail
- Ability to recognize problems or deviations from normal and accepted practices and resolve situations as they arise according to company guidelines
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both orally and in writing
- Ability to work independently to solve systems issues with minimal direction from manager or others
- Strong team player
- Computer proficiency: ERP Software Applications (Such as SAP, PeopleSoft, JD Edwards), MS Office Suite 2003 and 2007 including Word, Outlook, and Excel, and working knowledge of Windows XP and Vista.
Experience/Training:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent Required;
- Bachelors Degree in Systems Administration, IT, Business or a similar field required
- Three (+) years relevant experience working with ERP systems such as SAP, JD Edwards, People Soft, etc; two (+) years relevant experience with report writing software such as Business Warehouse, Business Objects, Crystal Reports, or other equivalent
- Some experience with networks (LANs, WANs) and system hardware preferred
- Bilingual (Spanish / English) preferred
- Any combination of relevant education and experience to equate to or exceed the above requirements.
